A survey of nearly 200,000 Internet users conducted by the media outlet Rambler&Co showed that 38% of respondents had never been the victim of Internet fraudsters. 23% failed to protect their data and 23% took action despite being on the edge. 16% of survey respondents recorded familiar cases affected by cybercrime.

Of those affected, 37% reported having their social media passwords stolen, 25% disclosed payment card information to scammers, 21% opened phishing links, 9% reported hacking into work computers, and 8% experiencing identity theft.

63% of the participants believe that they know all the rules of cyber security, 27% agree that they can receive additional training, and 10% think that this area is difficult and they do not fully understand.

Participants also took note of the rules they followed while using the internet. 42% avoid entering their personal data on suspicious sites, 35% do not enter their data anywhere. 16% are particularly careful with their online banking passwords and 7% are not worried about being hacked.

39% of respondents trust the strength of their passwords and memories. 32% keep their passwords in a safe place on paper, 15% use services to securely store passwords, and 14% use simple and memorable strings.

The majority of survey respondents (63%) learned about cybersecurity on their own. 15% receive advice from expert relatives, 12% receive on-the-job training and 10% attend private courses outside of their job.

The survey was conducted by the Rambler&Co media conglomerate among 173,627 users, including 72% of men and 28% of women, from May 4 to May 11, 2023.
