The Yandex.Maps service has developed a very detailed map for drivers, on which the roads are displayed as in a real city: there are lane markings, parking spaces and traffic islands. This is stated in a Maps message.
These details will allow you to navigate better, even if there are GPS glitches, the map’s creators note.
Detailed markings are available in the Yandex.Maps and Navigator applications. It can be seen on the map of Moscow within the Third Transport Ring, where everything except yards is marked on the Moscow Ring Road and major highways.
Also marked in detail are the central areas and main roads of Ufa, the centers of St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Novgorod. Updates are also visible when connected to CarPlay or Android Auto.
While traveling, Maps recommends a lane-based route; Buildings along the route are also visible in 3D, allowing you to use them as additional landmarks during your journey.
The service has also updated the route tracking camera: a larger section of the route is now visible, which will make it possible to prepare for maneuvers taking into account accidents and other situations on the road.
To create a map with detailed markings, Yandex used a tool for reprojecting panoramas. It overlays new panoramas over satellite images using perspective, resulting in updated road images.
Subsequently, the “Maps” will show in detail all buildings, tunnels, stops, entrances to underground passages, trees and other objects.
