It is possible to influence the behavior of various living organisms with the help of introduced magnetic nanoparticles, Maxim Abakumov, head of the Biomedical Nanomaterials laboratory at NUST MISiS, told Gazeta.Ru.

With magnetomechanical control, nanoparticles can be made to physically transmit vibrations to surrounding molecules, the researcher said. Experiments showed that under the influence of an external electromagnetic field, the behavior of mice begins to change: the animal turns to the right or left, depending on where the nanoparticle is injected into the brain, the scientist said.

Abakumov emphasized that the method is quite flexible in application. With it, you can not only destroy cells, but also restore normal developmental pathways, which allows you to treat hormonal abnormalities and neurodegenerative diseases.
