It seems they have long since gone beyond simple monochrome LCDs and now have full color touchscreens and enough power to run 3D games! And all this for only $10!
For example, a calculator called GHLBD acts as a very basic calculator by default (it doesn’t even offer scientific calculations). But enthusiasts have learned that they are made using motherboards and other equipment from old tablets.
It includes a 32-bit quad-core Allwinner A50 processor with 1GB of RAM. And what’s even better is that it runs on Android 9.
All this has led users to learn how to run full-fledged games on this calculator. It starts with 3D DOOM and ends with projects from the Nintendo 64 and some other consoles of the early 21st century.
Unfortunately the games are controlled using an external gamepad. But connecting is not that difficult – this calculator has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
