A research model created by Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition and Policy identified several factors that influence the development of type 2 diabetes and nutrition. In a scientific paper published in Nature Medicine, 11 nutritional factors were considered.

It turns out that three factors contribute significantly to the development of type 2 diabetes. These include not eating enough whole grains, consuming too much refined rice and wheat, and eating too much processed meat.

The results of this study are based on the analysis of data between 1990 and 2018. Experts also concluded that 70% of type 2 diabetes cases are related to food choices.
