Ireland becomes the first in the world to introduce alcohol warnings on liquor bottles

Starting in May 2026, Ireland will start labeling liquor bottles with special warnings about the dangers of alcohol to human health. The relevant law was signed by the Irish Health Minister, Stephen Donnelly.

Manufacturers will put warning labels on the bottles. They will talk about the possible development of cancer, liver diseases due to excessive alcohol consumption, as well as its damages for pregnant women.

Similar warnings are placed on packages of tobacco products in many countries, including Russia.

Ireland ranks seventh in terms of alcohol consumption per capita with 13 liters of pure alcohol per year. The first place in the list is occupied by Moldova with an indicator of 15.2 liters, Russia is in 16th place with an indicator of 11.7 liters.
