According to Bi.Zone, most of the attacked organizations develop and integrate software. Other victims included companies from the financial sector, logistics, medical services, and some government agencies.
As a result of the attacks, hackers hacked into their servers and gained access to the data of these organizations.
According to the information obtained by experts, hackers exploit vulnerabilities in older versions of Bitrix, Confluence and Webmin software products running on servers running Linux operating systems.
After the attackers successfully hacked the servers, they installed malware on the victims’ machines and proved their presence on the system.
