Suna Isakova, an oncologist at the SberHealth medical online service, said possible signs of colon cancer can be blood in the stool, as well as abdominal pain and frequent constipation.

The expert also acknowledged that these symptoms are not specific to cancer. Cancers often have no specific symptoms, and other intestinal diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis may be associated with abdominal pain, diarrhea, blood in the stool, and anemia.

The expert named among the risk factors for colon cancer obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, a diet low in fiber and high in fat, and processed meats – sausages, fried red meat, as well as alcohol consumption and smoking. The progression of the disease increases the symptoms: the pain becomes stronger, longer, more regular, defecation becomes more difficult, and the abdomen increases in size.
