In December 2022, a group of individuals filed a class action lawsuit against Microsoft over the merger of the two companies. As a result, on May 19, 2023, California District Court Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley dismissed the plaintiffs’ claim. According to the judge, gamers did not present evidence to the court that the industry would be “irreparably damaged” if Activision and Microsoft merged.

“They can play the day after the merger the same way they played with their friends before the merger,” said Judge Corley.
