According to the company, less than 100,000 of the brand new Apple headphones are expected to be sold in 2023. It would seem, why so few? After all, this is an entirely new product from Apple, the first in eight years.

The answer is simple: The headset is aimed at developers, content creators and professionals, not the average user.

Apple’s goal is to give developers a chance to get to know the device so they can create best practices and get the most out of it. Expected to sell between 7 and 10 million units in its first year of sales, this year’s production is limited to 300,000 units.

Another reason for low sales volume is cost. The helmet will cost around $3,000, making it out of reach for most users.

But, do not be sad! Apple is already working hard on future AR headset models. And unlike the first device, they will be designed for a wider range of users.

Recall that the announcement of the innovation will be made on June 5 as part of WWDC 2023.
