Rosatom Deputy Director of the Northern Sea Route Maxim Kulinko said that at the end of 2024 – the beginning of 2025, a single digital platform for Northern Sea Route (NSR) services will be operational in Russia. .
The development of the system, which is also called the “ice rover” of the Northern Sea Route, was entrusted to the state company by the government of the Russian Federation. The platform will combine about nine services with a broad data profile, from monitoring ice condition to the workload of ports in the NSR. It is assumed that any participant in the North Sea Route traffic using the new service will be able to access this service via a tablet and make decisions to ensure safe navigation based on this information.
Kulinko believes that a significant amount of important information about the Arctic in general, and the Northern Sea Route in particular, is currently scattered and not concentrated in one place. The manager believes this needs to be fixed by combining Rosatom’s digital platform with various datasets from scientific institutions and private companies. According to him, the platform will help fill the data gap from Western partners.
