While the US has made some efforts to address the risks associated with AI, the country still lacks comprehensive legislation in this area. In response, the EU amended the proposed AI law to include provisions for modern productive AI models, such as OpenAI’s GPT-4. Under proposed EU law, AI systems can be categorized as “high risk” if they have the potential to influence elections.
OpenAI has also partnered with Microsoft to announce a grant program to fund groups that can contribute to the development of rules and standards for AI systems.
