After years of waiting, Apple took advantage of keynote address WWDC 2023 opening ceremony to finally introduce the Mac Pro. As the company timidly expected, nThe new Mac Pro is Apple’s most powerful computer to dateand that’s thanks to Apple Silicon and the recently introduced M2 Ultra.
While keeping the same design that allows it to be used both horizontally and in a rack format, Apple has updated the interior of the Mac Pro with new features and more capacity for professional users. The transition of the Mac Pro to Apple Silicon means that the de facto entire Mac product line has completed the transition to Apple’s own chips.
The new non-synthesis Mac Pro is a fortified Mac Studio with PCIe capacity, but which partly shares the essence of an also updated professional desktop.

Like the Studio, the Mac Pro comes with the M2 Ultra, which offers 24-core CPU and up to 76 GPU coreswhich, according to Apple, is 3x the previous Mac Pro with an Intel processor in terms of CPU and up to 7x in terms of GPU performance.
The neural capabilities of the M2 Ultra also mean that Apple’s professional team has made the leap to 32 cores. which means up to 31.6 trillion operations per second. Its specifications are complemented by the ability to install up to 192 GB of unified memory.
In terms of connectivity, it includes three USB-A ports, two higher bandwidth HDMI ports that support resolutions up to 8K and 240Hz, two 10Gbps Ethernet ports, and a headphone jack that allows you to use high-quality headphones.
Also two 10Gb Ethernet ports, 8 Thunderbolt 4 ports and the ability to connect to up to six Pro Display XDR equipment. Like the Studio, the Pro offers six Thunderbolt ports on the back and two on the top. They are complemented by the wireless capabilities of Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
The big difference with Mac Studio is that the Mac Pro offers 6 PCIe slots so that professionals can connect other equipment directly to the Mac Pro, and this is undoubtedly its biggest difference.
Mac Pro is now up for pre-order and will be available next week from $6999 base.
