Android 14, the new version of Google’s mobile operating system, is available now. Mountain View residents took advantage of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro launch event to unveil the software after months of beta testing.
As usual, Pixel device users will be the first to receive the update. Android 14 is compatible with the Pixel 4a 5G and all models of the Pixel 5, 6 and 7 lines. Although the phones presented today, of course, have this version pre-installed.
It is not yet known when the software will appear on phones from other brands. Google mentions that devices from Samsung, Xiaomi, Nothing, Oppo, Realme, OnePlus, Sony, iQOO, Sharp, vivo and Tecno will receive Android 14 until the end of the year. Either way, availability will depend on the brand and how much time it takes to set it up.
Key new features in Android 14
The interesting thing about Android 14 is that Google is keeping the common thread of the previous two releases. with a strong focus on customization tools. New features in Android 14 include the ability to create wallpapers using text descriptions.
