Motorola made history, at least conceptually, because at the Lenovo Tech World 2023 gala, the company unveiled a truly incredible cell phone that folds like foam and transports the foldable material to another location.
This is one of those phones that I would like to see on the market right now.
“The adaptive display concept can be adapted from a standard Android phone in a landscape position, to being packaged to be worn on the wrist or placed in various stand modes,” the company says. He further adds that the concept device can run Android, which in itself is promising.
This is where it shines, with a few adjustments as well as its half-half and two-thirds geometry. As you can see in the first image, this can be a great quick view screen with a little tweaking. Maybe something like OnePlus’ Zen mode or Focus system on iPhones. Also, if the design looks familiar to you, it’s because Lenovo tried to create a strikingly similar device with the cPlus concept in 2016.
Also, if you notice the ribbed back, these are obviously the folding points that allow the device to fold at different seams and remain locked in that position. In its native state, we see a 6.9-inch plastic OLED panel with FHD+ resolution, which can be folded down to create a 4.6-inch panel that can practically be used in a standing position.
Now, just like with concept phones, never get your hopes up until it becomes a reality. Motorola hasn’t said whether it intends to turn its surprisingly stylish concept into a commercial device. But the brand certainly has all the recipes to bring it to life.
The company is engaged in production folding phones for years. And surprisingly, it performed better in terms of durability than Samsung’s foldable phones.
