iPadOS 16 beta hides a hidden menu to activate the new iOS 16 lock screen.

One of the most important innovations of iOS 16 is the new lock screen. Lets you personalize your iPhone like never before, with widgets, colors, fonts and effects. However, although both systems share many features, this lock screen did not come with iPadOS 16. But although it is not officially available, a beta bug lets you enable this lock screen on iPad.

Apparently, the new lock screen features are not directly implemented in Springboard, which is the process that manages both the lock screen and the home screen in iOS. Instead, Apple has a new Internal application named “PosterBoard”. This app cannot be enabled directly in iPadOS 16, but Apple forgot to hide it in the Shortcuts app.

The new iOS 16 lock screen is hidden in iPadOS 16

Opening the PosterBoard app from Shortcuts brings up a menu used by Apple designers and engineers to test all the new options available on the iOS 16 lock screen. Ability to do it from iPad with iPadOS 16.

However, it is clearly a half done function. All the features we have in iOS 16 don’t seem to work. We can change the font and colors, but the widget insertion feature doesn’t seem to work properly.

This seems to indicate that Apple is trying to add all the lock screen options of iOS 16 to the iPad, but its development is not complete. It doesn’t look like these new features will be included in a future iPadOS 16 beta update. so they reach the final version. Otherwise they would have something to explain in the presentation of the system.

The new lock screen in iPadOS 16 is accessible via 9to5mac.

While that doesn’t mean we won’t be able to see these news In a future update like iPadOS 17. We’ve already experienced something similar with widgets that couldn’t be placed anywhere on the screen until iPadOS 15.

up to a certain point, It seems that Apple did not include these developments on the iPad., at least the widget part. iPad is not iPhone and widgets need to be completely redesigned to fit larger iPad screen. Of course, font and color change could also be included in this.

If you are running iPadOS 16 beta 1 on your iPad, You can try these hidden options yourself by searching for PosterBoard from the Shortcuts app.. But keep in mind that Apple will remove all of these options with the upcoming iPadOS 16 beta.
