Xiaomi has started 2024 stronger than ever. Last week, the Asian corporation announced three mobile phones under the Poco sub-brand: the Poco X6 series, consisting of two different devices, and the affordable Poco M6 Pro. Now the same company is back in the headlines with Launch of Redmi Note 13 series in the West. Family smartphones consists of five different devices: from the economical Redmi Note 13 4G to the interesting Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G.

If you want to know everything about the cheapest versions (Redmi Note 13 4G and Redmi Note 13 5G), in Hypertext We have published a separate article with all the details. However, in this topic we will focus on three top models: Redmi Note 13 Pro, Note 13 Pro 5G and Note 13 Pro+ 5G.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro series is similar in many ways to the Poco X6 that Xiaomi launched last week. However, although they start from the same foundation, there are some very clear differences in the approaches of both families:

  • The Poco series puts more emphasis on performance, which is especially noticeable in the case of the Poco X6 Pro. Likewise, their distribution strategy focuses on online channels, which allows them to further adjust margins and lower the selling price some more.
  • The Redmi series, on the other hand, tips the balance a little more towards aesthetics – with a more attractive color palette, for example – or photography – with higher resolution sensors – and also takes a step forward in secondary areas such as charging speed. –where one of the models reaches 120 W–. Marketing strategy also varies. This family is found in common communication channels such as carriers or large stores.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro: the model to avoid in the new line

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro is product to avoid among the three Redmi Note 13 Pro. It shares many elements with the rest of the family, but compared to its big brother, the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G, there are three key differences:

  • The first one is the processor. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 of the top model is clearly better than the Helio G99 Ultra of the standard Redmi Note 13 Pro.
  • Replacing the chip also affects connectivity. While the standard model offers 4G, the top version offers 5G. In 2024, you can live with a 4G network without problems, but the absence of 5G has some weight for the future.
  • The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G’s screen reaches a higher maximum brightness level, which is appreciated in harsh environments. It also has higher resolution.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G will go on sale at €379 for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage version, rising to €399 for the 8GB RAM/256GB storage version. On the other hand, the standard version sells for 349 euros in 8GB and 256GB variants. That is: with the same memory, the difference between both models barely reaches 50 euros. And, if you allow me some advice, it’s worth making this investment in exchange for 5G – a better screen and, above all, a more powerful chip.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G: Poco X6 with 200MP camera

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G

Essentially, Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G is Poco X6 with 200 megapixel main camera. This is without a doubt a great starting point, since the Poco X6 is probably one of the best mobile phones that can currently be bought for less than 400 euros.

So which of the two should you buy? The answer is summarized as follows:

  • Poco X6 will go on sale at a price of 299 euros in a version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. Meanwhile, Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G costs 379 euros in the version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. A version of the latter is also sold with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory for 399 euros.
  • The Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G will hit stores with a more attractive color palette as well as a 200-megapixel camera that promises a significant jump over the Poco X6’s 64-megapixel sensor.

Therefore, in cases where the camera or design are not the deciding factor, the choice is clear: Poco X6. Otherwise, buying Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G makes sense.

Another important factor to consider is that the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G will be available on channels such as El Corte Inglés or operators where easier payment in installments for the device, which can play into your favor in the battle with Poco X6.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G: the most advanced version of the family

Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G

The conclusion stated in the previous section applies here too. Only in this case the main characters are Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G and Poco X6 Pro.

In most scenarios, the Poco model is a better buy than the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G. It has a more powerful processor – Dimensity 7200 Ultra versus Dimensity 8300 Ultra – and, in addition, it noticeably cheaper. Redmi, on the other hand, has a more promising main camera, a slightly curved screen, even faster charging (120W), a brighter color palette and easier financing due to the places in which it will be used.

Therefore, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is the best choice only if the camera, color palette, charging speed or financing are important. Otherwise, Poco X6 Pro is undoubtedly the best option. According to Xiaomi, the good thing is that everything always stays at home.
