Rumors about the Pixel 8a are growing as its inevitable unveiling approaches. After a box design image leaked online, a new report offers more details about Google’s next terminal. According to German retailers, Pixel 8a will come with a significant price increasecompared to its predecessor.
WinFuture collects information from the supply chain retail in Germany. According to two sources, Pixel 8a in basic configuration will be sold for 570 euros.. This represents a price increase of more than 60 euros compared to the Pixel 7a, which was priced at 509 euros at launch.
The report states that Google will sell Pixel 8a in two memory configurations: 128 GB and 256 GB. Users will be able to choose the model that best suits their budget and needs. The terminal will be available in black (obsidian), beige (porcelain), blue (bay) and light green (mint). It is currently unknown whether Google will limit colors by storage configuration, as it does with its older brothers.
In terms of performance, it is rumored that Pixel 8a will feature a 6.1-inch OLED screen. with a 90Hz refresh rate, Google Tensor G3 processor, 8GB RAM and Android 14. On the camera front, Google may include the same 64MP sensor from the previous generation paired with an ultra-wide-angle lens.
The Pixel 8a will have to compete with the new Nothing Phone (2a) and other mid-range phones.
Google may announce Pixel 8a during I/O 2024, a developer conference taking place next May. Recommended price for the 128 GB model will cost 570 eurosBye the 256 GB variant will cost 630 euros. The figures are preliminary and there is no evidence to support them other than reports from German retailers.
It is likely that we will learn all the details about the Pixel 8a as the date of its official presentation approaches. Google has a bad habit of completely filtering its terminals days (or weeks) before the official announcement.
The price increase doesn’t seem like a solution that will appeal to many, especially those looking for an affordable mid-range mobile phone. Competition in this segment is becoming stronger and The Pixel 8a will have to face the recently released phone (2a) out of nowhere. or the alternatives that Xiaomi offers.
The phone (2a) with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs €329, while the model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage costs €379. While the Nothing Phone 2a’s camera and processor don’t reach the level of the Pixel 8a, the price is a compelling reason to consider it, especially in a volatile economy like the one we have.
