Are you looking for a new phone? You might be considering Samsung’s latest offering, which includes Galaxy S24. This is the base model of the S24 range, but it still offers excellent performance and power thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and 8GB of RAM, a beautiful LTPO AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a maximum brightness of 2600 nits. And although this is the base model, you do get a triple-lens camera system.
But the Galaxy S24 isn’t the only option you have. Here are five great alternatives to consider if you’re considering the S24.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus
If you’re already considering the base model of the Galaxy S24, you might want to consider choosing a model Galaxy S24 Plusinstead of this. If you don’t mind the larger size, there are a few reasons why.
First of all, you get a lot more screen real estate. The regular S24 only has a 6.1-inch screen, which is great if you prefer compact phones. But the S24 Plus has a 6.7-inch screen that puts a lot more on screen at once, and also makes things easier to see if you have aging eyes. Samsung tends to have very bright and saturated photos, but not everyone likes them. For a more natural and realistic look, it is better to use Google Pixel.
The Pixel 8 is a fantastic phone, and it’s actually cheaper than the S24 at just $700.
OnePlus 12
Anyone looking for great value for money should definitely consider OnePlus 12. Not only does it cost the same as the Samsung Galaxy S24, but it also includes many more features, so you definitely get a lot more for your money.
First of all, it features a stunning 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED display with an incredibly high resolution of 1440 x 3168 pixels and a density of 510 pixels per inch. But it also has a dynamic refresh rate of 120Hz, and the maximum brightness reaches 4500 nits! If you want one of the brightest displays on a smartphone, then the OnePlus 12 is the one for you. And a curved screen means a more immersive experience, although it can also lead to some unwanted touches if you’re not used to such a screen.
The OnePlus 12 is also an absolute performance beast, thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of internal storage. While most people probably don’t need that much RAM in a smartphone, it’s there if you really want it, perhaps for gaming purposes or multitasking like there’s no tomorrow.
And cameras! The OnePlus 12 features an impressive triple camera setup with a 50MP primary camera, a 64MP periscopic telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Samsung Galaxy S23
Are you still determined to buy the Galaxy S24? If yes, then you can save a lot of money if you choose Galaxy S23 since last year. In addition to new features Galaxy AIwhich are actually already available for the S23, there is not much difference between them.
The S24 and S23 are similar in size, being the most compact of their range. Samsung changed the frame of the S24 this year to have flat edges, but the S23 still has rounded and curved edges. Otherwise there is no difference in appearance.
The Galaxy S23 uses the older Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which was the previous version of the chip found in the Galaxy S24. However, it’s still a great chip, offering strong performance when paired with 8GB of RAM.
Samsung hasn’t updated the S24’s cameras, so they’re the same as the S23’s. This means it still has a 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The selfie camera remains 12MP. Samsung has made some improvements to the Galaxy S24 when it comes to color processing, so you may notice that images on the Galaxy S23 are a little brighter and sharper.
Once again, the biggest selling point of the Galaxy S24 series is Galaxy AI, otherwise it is almost the same as the previous generation. But since Galaxy AI is already available for the S23 (and other phones), you can definitely save a lot of money by buying the S23 instead, especially since it’s easy to find a good deal these days.
Samsung Galaxy Z flip 5
If one of the reasons you were considering the Galaxy S24 was due to its compact size, then perhaps you should also consider Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is one of the best foldable phones you can buy. The 3.4-inch clamshell display is a big improvement over the 1.9-inch display of its predecessor. And after a little initial setup, you can launch any application on the main screen, which is very convenient.
