New iPad Pro 2024: Apple unveils its most avant-garde tablet yet

iPad Pro 2024: First major design change in more than five years

Another great thing about this new generation is the screen, which says goodbye to Mini LED technology in favor of OLED. This technology is not new for Apple, as the company has been implementing it in the iPhone and Apple Watch for many years. What’s new in the company’s catalog is that we see it in such a large device as the iPad Pro.

However, this panel is not just an OLED. Apple chose Tandem OLED panel, which John Ternus (Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple) defined as combining two screens into one. So, as explained during the presentation, Apple can offer much higher brightness levels: 1000 nits in full screen mode and 1600 peak HDR brightness.

And all this while maintaining other technologies such as True Tone, ProMotion (adaptive refresh rate from 10 to 120 Hz), DCI-P3 color space or almost infinite contrast. And because it’s an OLED screen, the pixels turn off individually to ensure perfect blacks.

On the other hand, for the first time Apple is offering the opportunity to purchase this iPad with nanotextured glass which improves performance in certain scenarios. However, this option is only available on 1TB and 2TB models.

Apple M4 debuts on iPad Pro

For the first time, the iPad Pro was chosen as the device to debut the Apple Silicon series chip. Specifically, This new model welcomes the Apple M4 SoCwhich seems like a minor, albeit interesting, evolution from the M3 that the brand currently puts on Macs.

The main change with the Apple M4 is that, like the M3, it is made in three nanometers. However, in this case This is a second generation process.. An improvement that, among other things, will improve the energy efficiency of the chip.

Two different versions of the Apple M4 will be sold:

• 256GB or 512GB iPad Pro 2024 models will include a version with a 9-core processor (6 for efficiency and 3 for performance) and 8GB of RAM.
• The 1TB or 2TB versions will come with a 10-core processor option (6 efficiency and 3 performance) and 16GB of RAM.

Regarding performance, Apple has revealed few details. So we’ll have to wait for the first devices to find out in detail how it is positioned in relation to the Apple M3, which debuted a few months ago on the Mac.

New cameras, new accessories

iPad Pro welcomes new 12 megapixel camera which Apple says delivers vibrant images with Smart HDR, better colors and textures, and greater detail in low light conditions. Plus, thanks to the use of artificial intelligence, iPad Pro scans documents even better and, for example, activates the new True Tone flash to eliminate shadows where needed.

When will the new iPad Pro 2024 arrive?
