Apple will apparently target the last quarter of 2025 for mass production of the display and the first quarter of 2026 for large-scale assembly of the foldable MacBook. This way, the company will have a clear path to bringing it to market in the same year.

As for the flexible display itself, Kuo says Apple hasn’t yet decided on a final design for this MacBook. In principle, the best alternative was 20.25 inchesbut apparently the residents of Cupertino do not rule out contacting one of 18.8 inches.

According to the analyst, the difference between the two sizes will be the final form factor of the closed device. With a 20-inch panel, the foldable MacBook will be the size of a 14- or 15-inch laptop when closed. And with 18.8 inches, it will resemble one that is 13 to 14 inches.

While it is true that companies that already have foldable devices on the market, particularly mobile phones, have greatly improved the design of their foldable mechanisms, the marks on the screen are still quite noticeable. It makes sense that Apple wants to put an end to them with this supposed foldable MacBook.

The problem for Tim Cook and company will be costs. Kuo says a foldable MacBook panel can cost between $600 and $650, while a hinge can cost between $200 and $250.
