Google launched Android Auto 12.2, the latest version of the operating system with several new features. The most important of all is Fixed a bug that prevented navigation in Google Maps. While this is not a major update, Android engineers have fixed several issues and implemented new feature in its design.
The tech giant has implemented an update process focused on stability. That’s why we don’t see any hype – Android Auto 12.2 doesn’t even have release notes. However, the changes they make are more than necessary and indicate an improved user experience.
The most obvious one has to do with icon design. Android Auto 12.2 change the color of app icons that you cannot use while driving. Some mini-games or applications that may distract you will appear in grayscale. If you touch them, the screen will show a warning that they are not available while the car is running.
Thanks to this Google left behind the symbols of the car and the letter P which I used to differentiate between applications. Grayscale icons will remain grayscale only while the vehicle is moving. Once you park it, the apps will unlock and return to normal.
Android Auto 12.2 too fixes integration bug with Google Maps which prevented the correct use of GPS in the driving interface. Several users have reported the issue since early June, although Google has not offered a definitive solution at that time. The only alternative at that time was to use GPS from the Maps or Waze apps.
The good news is that this problem is a thing of the past and navigation from the Android Auto 12.2 interface is free of GPS errors.
