The foldable smartphone phenomenon continues at full speed, especially after Huawei’s announcement The world’s first mobile phone that can be folded into three piecesNow, website 91Mobiles has discovered a Xiaomi patent that features concept art for the Chinese giant’s first multi-layered device.

Although it doesn’t have many details, the upcoming foldable device is quite reminiscent of the Huawei Mate XT. The device, which can be used in three different modes, looks quite thin and long with its tablet-like design when fully opened. Therefore, such smartphones can be quite interesting for watching movies and even playing games.

On the front, there is a square camera module with slightly rounded edges that appears to house three sensors. Since it is still a concept, no specifications have been revealed and it may take some time for the brand to announce and launch it.

The revelation will only happen in 2025

Past rumors have suggested that Xiaomi could reveal something about a triple-screen smartphone during the MWC (Mobile World Congress) in March 2025. It’s still hard to say whether this announcement will actually be a smartphone or just a prototype. In addition to this model, the company is also expected to announce the global launch of the Xiaomi 15 at the event.

The foldable market is particularly busy for Chinese brands. Along with the arrival of the Huawei Mate XT, Tecno has also revealed the design of its first triple-screen smartphone, but it also has no release date.

Samsung, on the other hand, seems to be bucking this trend and is considering launching a foldable smartphone in the second half of 2025.
