Samsung is working on an implementation that will allow use your Galaxy as a digital key for your smart lock. This feature will be available from 2025 on select phones from the manufacturer.
Samsung announced adoption of Aliro, a standardized communication protocol which is used to open doors. The technology uses access credentials and a protocol that supports communication between the reader and the user’s device. Simply put, when implemented on Galaxy the user could bring their mobile phone to the lock and unlock it in automatic mode.
According to Mark Benson, head of the US division of SmartThings, Aliro standard will be implemented in Samsung Wallet. So you can use your mobile phone or Galaxy Watch as a key to enter your house. Of course, this technology requires an Aliro-enabled lock, which will hit the market in the coming months.
One of the most striking features of this ad is the ability to open a door without moving a muscle.
