He OnePlus 13Rwhich is expected to be released along with OnePlus 13 the following month there was a leak. Following in the footsteps OnePlus 12RThe 13R is expected to feature improved internals, a significantly larger battery, and an improved camera system, all at a much lower price than the flagship OnePlus 13.

Well-known insider OnLeaks published detailed information about the OnePlus 13R. The source claims that the OnePlus 13R will be a rebranded version of the China-exclusive OnePlus Ace series device, specifically the Ace 5. The Ace 5 will be launched in China sometime this month along with the Pro variant.

Preliminary specifications for the OnePlus Ace 5, also known as the OnePlus 13R, have also surfaced. Apparently, it will follow the traditions of previous generations and run on last year’s top-end Qualcomm chip. In this case, most likely the chipset Snapdragon 8 3rd generationwhich will be paired with a single 12GB RAM option. The first model will have storage capacity set at 256GB, while other variants may arrive later this year.

The OnePlus 13R is said to feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. These numbers are the same as the 12R, the only expected difference being the flat edges rather than curved ones. There may be an improvement in maximum brightness values, although the OnePlus 13 has been confirmed to retain last year’s 4,500 nits figure.

With the 13R, OnePlus is expected to finally ditch (for good!) the 2MP fixed-focus macro camera in favor of a 50MP camera. While the exact purpose of this device is not stated in the leak, it could be a telephoto lens with 2x or 3x zoom. Meanwhile, the 50 MP main camera, 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and 16 MP front camera remain, apparently, unchanged. With the new generation, OnePlus may also increase the battery capacity, bringing it up to 6000 mAh. Meanwhile, wired fast charging speeds should remain the same at 80W for North America and 100W for the rest of the world.

OnePlus will likely pre-boot the 13R OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15, which is now rolling out widely to a large number of OnePlus phones and tablets, the latest being the OnePlus Open. Other improvements include Bluetooth 5.4 and a thinner design: the OnePlus 13R is 8.02mm thick (excluding the camera bump) compared to the OnePlus 12R’s 8.8mm.

The leak doesn’t reveal much about the design, but a previously published image of the phone, courtesy of another leaker, Digital Chat Station, has been around for almost a week. This hints that OnePlus will ditch the 12R’s curves at the back and front and opt for a boxier aesthetic. The source says that “Nebula Noir” and “Astral Trail” will be the initial color options, and a third could be added later. As for prices, we expect more leaks before OnePlus’ official announcement next month. It will sell for around $550-$60, which makes it very tempting considering the hardware on offer.
