Even after the launch of Snapdragon 8 Elite at the end of last year, Qualcomm may release a less performant and cheaper version. Leaks from Digital Chat Station, which provides information via Chinese social network Weibo, point to the arrival of the Snapdragon 8s Elite, which should not use the powerful Orion cores.

These Orion cores used in the regular premium Snapdragon are one of the ones responsible for the top-end performance available on the 8 Elite. Unlike these, the new variant uses one main Cortex-X4 (3.21 GHz) core, three Cortex-A720 (3 GHz) performance cores, two Cortex-A720 (2.8 GHz) for efficiency and two more efficiency cores that are yet to be announced. It is necessary.

Although there is a clear difference between Oryon and Cortex, leaked tests on Geekbench 6 show that Snapdragon 8s Elite scores 1,967 in single-core and 5,827 in multi-core. Analyzing the data against the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s score of approximately 2,200 (single) and 7,000 (multiple) shows a difference of 11% and 20% between the two, respectively.

Final performance needs improvement

The results are quite interesting; The main reason for this is that the Snapdragon 8s Elite does not yet have proprietary drivers and updates that can improve this performance. In fact, this is a clear indication that the new model will still maintain its high performance standard, but will be one step behind its older brother.

Moreover, the informant underlines that the processor is in the testing phase, so performance will increase when integrated into future smartphones. In fact, brands like IQOO and Redmi should be among the first brands to have the new CPU soon.

There’s no set release date for the arrival of the Snapdragon 8s Elite, but it’s a good idea to wait for Mobile World Congress (MWC), an event focused on mobile phones, taking place in early March.
