The third beta of iPadOS 16.1 brings a pleasant surprise to iPad users. One of the star features of iPadOS 16 is no longer exclusive to devices with the M1 chip, and expands to more iPad models. We are talking about Stage manager or Visual Organizer in Spanish, the new iPad multitasking will also be compatible with iPad Pro from 2018.

New one iPad multitasking has generated a lot of controversy. This is one of the main reasons for the delay in the release of iPadOS 16, which will arrive next month with iOS 16.1 as the initial release.

Apple users are listening

In an official statement, Apple says it’s listening to users and the new iPadOS 16 expanded support for multitasking to older iPads. Although with some nuances. iPads with the M1 chip can open up to 8 apps at the same time, whereas previous iPads only had 4 apps, which isn’t bad at all.

Introducing Stage Manager, a completely new way to multitask, with windows that overlap and resize on both the iPad screen and on a separate external display, with the ability to run up to eight live apps on the screen at the same time. This multi-screen support is only possible with the full power of M1-based iPads. Customers with 3rd and 4th generation iPad Pros have shown great interest in experiencing Stage Manager on their iPad. In response, our teams have worked hard to find a way to offer a single-screen version for these systems that support up to four apps on the iPad screen simultaneously.

Alongside this important announcement, Apple walk revealed this. External display support in Stage Manager will remain exclusive to iPads with the M1 chip. So on the 3rd and 4th generation iPad Pro, you cannot connect the iPad to an external monitor and use Stage Manager. Also, this function will not come until the end of the year.

External display support for Stage Manager on M1 iPads will be available in a software update later this year.

With this update, Apple has doubled the number of compatible iPads, reaching 7 different models from only 3 iPads with M1 chip on the market, as the 3rd and 4th generation iPad Pros are also compatible. this List of iPads compatible with Stage manager or Visual Organizer From iPad OS 16:

  • iPad Air (5th generation)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd, 4th and 5th generation)
  • 11-inch iPad Pro (3rd, 4th and 5th generation)

of course this very good news for users. Previous year iPad Pros feature the A12X and A12Z chips, which are incredibly powerful even if they lag behind the M1. And even with fewer apps at a time, all those millions of users will be able to enjoy iPadOS 16’s new multitasking.
