Due to the pandemic in 2020 and the changes that took place after this event, in the work and school environment, PC sales soar as all brands announce increases in shipments generals. Apple has been one of the companies that benefited the most from this.

But like any great upswing comes a great downturn. Nearly all companies report low PC sales in 2022…except Apple, because more than a year ago, it was the only company selling when the health emergency was still hidden in different parts of the world.

Big sales on Apple and computers

As every 3 months, the IDC website showed its report on shipments in the global PC market. Generalized results show a 15% drop in sales because almost all companies except Apple showed red numbers.

Consumers continue to prefer Macs over Windows computers

Global shipments totaled 74.3 million units in the third quarter of 2022 (3Q22), according to preliminary results from International Data Corporation’s quarterly global tracker of personal computing devices (IDC), while the traditional PC market continued to decline. Cooling demand and erratic supply contributed to the 15.0% annual contraction.

Mac department pays pretty big dividends for Applebecause overall sales increased by 40% compared to the third quarter of 2021. Of course, there are no reports of which Apple products sell the most, but what is constant is that consumers prefer Apple’s M1 or M2 chip.

The data shows that Apple increased its shipments (in thousand units) from 7.1 million in the third quarter of last year to 10 million in the same quarter of this year. At a time when every major brand was shrinking, the Cupertino company increased its market share from 8.2% to 13.5%.

It should be noted that despite the decline in overall sales in the computer market,Shipping levels still well above pre-pandemic levelsthis does not mean that consumers are not looking for computers for work or school.
