The iPhone app Buscar was needed to save the victim of a serious car crash on a highway near San Bernardino, USA, on Monday (26). The woman had been missing since she left the family home on Christmas Sunday.

Relatives who tried to reach young Melissa Vasquez by phone for several hours were unsuccessful and contacted local authorities. After going home, police officer David Cameron found the victim’s iPad and used Apple’s Find tool follow her location.

Using his knowledge to unlock the password-protected tablet, Cameron was able to locate the woman after the app showed she was in a valley next to the road she had traveled on when she had an accident a few hours ago. He then called the rescue team and reported the GPS data of the mobile phone.

Firefighters who came to the scene encountered a young woman lying face down outside the car and seriously injured. It was necessary to use a set of equipment and ropes to save him from the gate and urgently transport him to a hospital specializing in traumatic injuries.

Car showed wrong location

By ABC11, Melissa’s car’s OnStar system detected the accident after two of the car’s wheels had burst. However, the program failed to locate the car twice before police used the iPhone tracker to go to the designated areas and found nothing.
