A developer named Mate Marschalko succeeded in realizing an unusual proof-of-concept: He crossed the artificial intelligence of OpenAI’s GPT-3 language prediction model with virtual assistant Siri to control the Apple device with voice commands made by the chatbot. The experience, posted on the programmer’s blog Wednesday (8), is Apple’s attempt to add more voice commands to its voice assistant. In the video, developer makes a suggestion: “I noticed that I was shooting this video in the dark at the office, can you do something about it?” In response, the artificial intelligence turns on the lights. He then asks his assistant to set his room to a temperature that will “help me sleep better” and sets the room thermostat to 19ºC.
In his blog post he says he uses Marschalko Apple Shortcuts app To interface between your Siri, GPT-3 and IoT devices. In this way, a voice command to Siri causes “Shortcuts” to send a long prompt to the AI asking for feedback in machine-readable form. When the answer came, it was analyzed by the app to trigger home devices or simply answered by Siri.
