The wait is over. Apple has finally released iOS 16.4, which contains important news and is highly anticipated by iPhone users. Of course, also included are various bug fixes found in recent months, as well as improvements to overall system performance. Let’s take a look at its main features.

First of all, iOS 16.4 brings with it a wave of new emoticon. There are 21 in total, which we already informed you about a few weeks ago. Animals such as elk, donkey, jellyfish, goose and black bird make their debut. Hyacinth, ginger, pea, fan, comb, flute, and maracas emojis are also introduced, along with new heart colors and a shaking face.

However, perhaps the biggest beneficiary of iOS 16.4 is Safari. Apple browser now has its own pop-up notification. There are currently many websites that offer the ability to send you notifications of their latest posts, but Safari, at least on iOS and iPadOS, has been unable to display these notifications. Hope this changes after the update.

The important point is that Safari notifications will also be able to be displayed on the lock screen or home screen, as it works with other applications.

During WWDC 2022, Apple announced that the iPhone will receive voice isolation for mobile calls. For some unknown reason, this feature was delayed several times, but is now available in iOS 16.4. How it works? Essentially, the system is responsible for filtering out ambient noise in order to prioritize your voice. This way, you will be able to hear yourself better during a call, especially if there is a lot of noise around you.

Now it’s important to note that voice isolation is not enabled by default. If you want to use it, during a call, you will need to display the Control Center, select the microphone mode, and then activate Voice Isolation.

On the other side, iCloud Shared Photo Library can now detect duplicate photos and videos. Of course, it will be easier for you to delete them to free up space in the cloud.

Other innovations introduced in iOS 16.4 are as follows:

  • VoiceOver support for maps in the Weather app.
  • New Accessibility option to automatically dim video when flashing lights or stroboscopic effects are detected.
  • Improvements to Accident Detection on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro to prevent unwanted emergency calls.

iOS 16.4 is now available for download. Just enter Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install..
