Over eight weeks in 2023, sales of smartphones, headsets, and headphones fell 11.4% in unit and 30% in currency terms. In January, the market fell by 13.3%, to 7.5 million devices, and in monetary terms – by 40%, to 58.3 billion rubles.
Most of all, the decline in the share in monetary terms is noticeable in Samsung and Apple – by 35% and 18%, respectively, Kommersant reported with reference to Holodilnik.ru.
At the same time, there is a notable increase in sales among Chinese brands such as Realme and Xiaomi. For example, more than 26,000 Oppo devices were sold in the eighth week of 2023, compared to just 7,000 in the same period of 2022.
According to experts, the smartphone market this year will not be able to return to the level of 2021, when 30 million devices were sold, until at least 2024-2025. According to the forecasts of the head of TelecomDaily Denis Kuskov, approximately 26 million smartphones will be sold in 2023. And we are talking more about Chinese brands, whose average bill is much lower than American and South Korean premium brands.
