Apacer and Zadak jointly announced their first PCIe 5.0 consumer SSD. The AS2280F5 and TWSG5 should offer speeds of up to 13,000 MB/s, thanks to the use of the new PCIe standard. No capacity or suggested retail price has been disclosed, although both are expected before the end of this year.

Both the Apacer and Zadak versions use four PCIe 5.0 lanes, allowing maximum read and write speeds of 13,000 and 12,000 MB/s, respectively. In addition to supporting the NVME 2.0 specification, they appear to be equipped with the same aluminum heatsink, but Zadak also provides a thin graphene heat spreader. Both models come with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty.

So far, these speeds are only supported on Z690 motherboards with Intel Alder Lake processors, but that will change soon. AMD’s Ryzen 7000 processors with the corresponding AM5 platform are expected to arrive in the fall. In addition to DDR5, these motherboards will also be able to handle the latest PCIe standard.
