The heatwaves that are currently happening in the United States and likely to hit various parts of the world during the summer months are a huge challenge for the power grid. Various studies show that at this speed and considering the large amount of energy generated by humans when turning on devices such as air conditioning, we may experience major power outages it would only put citizens in even greater danger.

In parts of the US and Mexico that are currently experiencing heat waves with extreme temperatures reaching 43 degrees Celsius, grid companies such as ERCOT experiencing record demand for energy. One way to avoid the risk of power outages due to heat waves is to use heat pumps. These are devices that make it possible to heat or cool the air in houses by absorbing hot air and removing cold air, or vice versa; is much more efficient and sustainable than air conditioning. In fact, the European Union and the United States encourage its use to combat heat waves.

In any case, global warming is a much bigger problem that needs to be addressed with solutions that go beyond a device to effectively cool homes.
