Ikea is updating its smart home product line with a new central hub called Dirigera. The hub can be used to control all connected Ikea smart devices. The biggest advantage of these new generation smart home products is the support of Matter, a universal smart home standard. At least Dirigera is up for the Matter as an official certificate is still missing. Center and the new Home app will launch in October. No official price has been announced for the center yet, but it will cost a little more than the current Tradfri center at around €30.

Users can thus control all smart Ikea products through Dirigera and the accompanying Ikea Home app, as well as gadgets from other manufacturers affiliated with the Connectivity Standard Alliance. Ikea promises that the new app is easier to use, with an accessible design so that smart functions can be made understandable for everyone. Ikea’s current Tradfri line continues to work and Dirigera backward compatible with old smart home products. Therefore, Ikea’s existing smart products will also continue to be available through the new hub.

The new Ikea smart home hub is 2.7 cm high and just over 11 cm in diameter. There is an Ethernet connection and a USB-C port for power supply.
