Rumors about Apple’s next first car began in 2015, when the tech giant created Project Titan, a research initiative focused on the promise of electric vehicles and autonomous driving.
The Wall Street Journal reported in 2015 that Apple wanted to build an Apple Car by 2019, but Apple had other plans. In early 2016, the company laid off 200 Project Titan employees as Apple shifted its focus to autonomous driving.
Recently, The Apple Car made headlines around the world again when official patents for a fully autonomous electric car were leaked. and equipped with a VR in-car entertainment system.

As first detailed in the VR Scout report, Apple has filed a patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office for an innovative virtual reality entertainment system. in a car that uses car movements as part of a virtual reality experience.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is accelerating the development of its new electric car, but the project has refocused on autonomous driving capabilities. The report adds that the Apple Car team has explored two options over the years.
The first is an Apple Car with limited self-driving capabilities, mainly steering and acceleration. The second is a fully autonomous vehicle that operates without human intervention.
Under the scrutiny of new Apple Car team leader and Apple Watch software executive Kevin Lynch The tech giant has now focused its efforts on the second option and is reportedly planning to introduce a production, self-driving Apple Car by 2025.
The shift in focus to self-driving cars may explain why Apple is busy filing new patents left and right.
Recently, it received a series of 53 new patents from the US Patent and Trademark Office.including dynamic focus 3D display of VR headset and VR system.
The patent states that Apple’s virtual reality system is equipped with a direct retinal projector system that scans an image pixel by pixel directly onto the retina.
The patent goes on to explain that the new VR system fixes the problems accommodation-convergence mismatch, such as headaches, nausea and eye fatigue, which are common among users of conventional virtual reality and augmented reality systems.
We can see how Apple’s latest inventions could be used for in-car entertainment, but we have no idea why the next Apple Car will be content with no windows; it will likely have at least a windshield and front side windows.
