Did you type a line of text and then realize that it should have been capitalized differently? Instead of re-typing a line, you can quickly and easily change the capitalization of any text in Word without having to re-type it.

To change the case of text in a Word document, select the text you want to change and make sure the Home tab is active. Then click the “Change case” button on the “Home” tab.

Select the desired header type from the dropdown menu. The following types of capitalization are available:

  • Type of a sentence: Capitalizes the first letter of the first word in a sentence.
  • Lower case: Makes all letters lowercase.
  • CAPITAL LETTERS: Puts all letters in CAPITALS.
  • Capitalize each word: Capitalize the first letter of each word. This is useful for headers or headers.
  • Switch register: Makes the first letter of each word lowercase and all other letters UPPER.

Alternate case may seem like an odd option, but it’s useful if you’re typing text without realizing that the Caps Lock key is enabled and the AutoCorrect option to fix accidental use of the Caps Lock key isn’t enabled.

If you want to use the keyboard for change the case of some text without clicking on any menu you can do it like this:

Select the text and then press Alt+H to activate the Home tab. Then press “7” and select an option, such as “S” for sentence case, “L” for lower case, “U” for upper case, “C” for separate word case, or “t” for both upper and lower case. .
