Taiwan has put up a big barrier to Russian technology. From now on, both they and Belarus will not be able to buy processors with a frequency of less than 25 MHz, with this in mind, all modern devices are excluded.

At the start of the war Taiwan was one of the first countries to sit down at the negotiating table and impose all sorts of restrictions on Russia. It was the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union that gradually created obstacles.

Well, just this week, the Taiwan Ministry of Economy published a list of high-tech products whose export to Russia and Belarus is prohibited. Consider that these countries are fed by a variety of products produced in this and other similar countries, such as chips.

As for prohibited items, they include: electronics, computing, telecommunications, sensors, lasers, navigation equipment, marine technology, navigation, avionics, jet engines and many other categories.

As of today, Russian organizations cannot buy chips from Taiwanese companies that meet one of the following conditions:

  • More than 5 GFLOPS performance: If we find out how much that is, keep in mind that the Play Station 2 already had a maximum performance of around 6.2 GFLOPS.
  • It operates at 25 MHz and above.
  • It has an ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) larger than 32 bits.
  • It has an external connection with a data transfer rate of 2.5 MB/s or higher.
  • It has over 144 contacts.
  • It has a base gate propagation delay time of less than 0.4 nanoseconds.

Without tools and spare parts, only time will tell how big the impact on both countries will be (Belarus also suffers from cooperation with Russia).
