Videocardz has discovered a new variant of the low-end GeForce GT 1010 on Color’s Chinese website. As the name suggests, the GT 1010 LP 2GD4 has 2GB slower ddr4 memory instead of gddr5. There is no suggested retail price yet, and it is unclear whether this model will arrive in other regions. The gddr5 variant was spotted on a Chinese trading site earlier this year for the equivalent of 63 euros.
The GPU is still manufactured on Samsung’s 14nm process. With 256 cuda cores, it has as many compute cores as the regular variant, although the base and boost clocks are reduced by about 7% (1,151 and 1,379 MHz). Video memory combines 2.1Gbps speed with a 64-bit memory bus, providing 16.8GB/s bandwidth – just one-third of the GT 1010 with gddr5. Power consumption has also been reduced from 30 Watts to 20 Watts.
While Colorful’s website states that “2GB vram offers more possibilities for new players,” this sku is clearly not geared towards gaming. Due to its modest height and thickness, it is intended for systems whose processor does not have an integrated GPU.
