A few months ago, I gave you my opinion on the GoPro Hero 10 Black. It’s an impressive camera to take on a tour, take with you on an adventure, or just take it on vacation to record your drive through the city in POV, but it does have some drawbacks.
You can’t record quality audio if you speak into the back of the camera, and the battery runs very fast in some recording modes. A few weeks ago, however, a suite was launched that promises to address these shortcomings, called the Content Creator.
Playing around with new accessories Sharing my opinion on the GoPro Hero 10 Black Content Creator.:

Volta, external battery/stabilizer with several
I’m going to start by talking about both Media Mod and Volta., i.e. selfie stick/tripod. The media mod is the casing that we put on the camera, and it is quite interesting in that it offers us expansion and protection options.
Obviously this improves on the latter by adding this “skeleton”, but the important thing is that everything is connected. We have two cold shoes, a microphone system, which I will tell you about now, and three additional ports.
We have microHDMI, USB-C and audio input. which is very useful for installing an external microphone that does not require power. I like it because it doesn’t make the camera much bigger and it’s very handy if you want to improve your GoPro.
On the other hand, there is the Volta, a grip that we plug into the regular connectors of Go Pros and action cameras of this type, and which I think would be a more round product if it had a ball joint to be able to move our camera more freely.
Although you can see the cable, the connection to the GoPro is wireless and in this pen we have the main controls so we don’t have to touch the touch screen or the camera buttons, but the best thing is that the cable is used for charging. camera.
And that’s what In addition to the stabilizer and tripod, Volta works as a power supply.. It has 4900mAh which is almost three times the capacity of a GoPro battery and you can obviously use it as an extra battery as well as an emergency charger for any USB-C device.
This is very necessary because the GoPro’s battery drains when we shoot in 4K60, but I like the fact that you can use the Volta directly to the GoPro’s USB to remove the built-in battery and thus allow the camera to dissipate better.
In the summer it’s cool because you reduce one of the problems of this generation of GoPros and, in addition, you don’t sacrifice autonomy because you have a 4900 mAh Volta. For about 130 euros, it seems to me a very good accessory.
Amplified sound and lighting for very specific uses
I must tell you that I really liked the Volta, but with the other two elements, I have my pluses and minuses.
I’m going to start by talking about light. This is a module that charges via USB-C and has good autonomy and also has a cold shoe so we can place it anywhere.
I love that it doesn’t need external power because that way we can place it wherever we want as a fill or key light, and I also appreciate the diffuser and all three light levels plus strobe mode.
Now, while it’s very noticeable when it’s on, obviously it will only happen if the scene is very dark. You already know that the GoPro sensor is tiny, but during the day or evening you will be able to shoot in very good quality without additional lighting.
I think this little flashlight has a size advantage over other solutions, but in the end it puts out a pretty harsh light that you’ll only use if you… I don’t know, someone who does night climbing. , for example, and needs that light, or if you’re camping in total darkness and want to record yourself.
In the matter of microphones, I also have my pros and cons.. I think the GoPro’s built-in mic picks up the voice pretty well and also boosts the bass so we get a pretty warm sound.
However, it’s true that it picks up little ambient sound, and besides, if we’re recording a VLOG with the camera pointed in the direction we’re going, the front mics don’t pick up our voice well.
It’s fixed with two Media Mod microphones and that’s what we have one in the front and one in the back and in addition also you can install an external microphone like Rode or Deity thanks to the audio input of the case.
But hey, focusing on the Media Mod and its two microphones, when we want to record we will have to choose in the software whether we want to record with the front or rear microphone. It’s a somewhat cumbersome process, and besides, I hear my voice a little more metallic, less warm.
However, I think this mic has a bit more gain because it’s able to pick up ambient sound better.
If that’s what you’re looking for, great, but if you’re filming your face, I’d go for the GoPro’s built-in microphone, and if you’re filming in the direction you’re walking, the Media Mod’s ass.
GoPro Content Creator Overview
As a result, we have a team that we can buy in a set or separately. It doesn’t come cheap, either together or individually, although it’s currently on sale at the GoPro store, but in the end it’s for the user who is very convinced that this is what he needs.
Namely, I think the Volta is a great accessory, but don’t buy it thinking it will improve the GoPro 10’s stability. because honestly you won’t notice. The stabilization that the stock camera provides is fantastic, and the Volta is used as a tripod, as a remote control, and above all to extend the camera’s battery.
I like the cage because it has a microphone which yes I don’t think it picks up our voice so well but improves the capture of ambient sound and in addition expands the ports and possibilities of the camera with hot shoes and light, with its parties can help in certain situations.
If you use a GoPro in your daily life because you are adventurous and record everything on itI think Volta, cage and torch, in that order, should be your next purchases. But if you’re not the right user profile, perhaps the investment is too high.
