We have always heard that in order to have a reliable car, you need to buy a German-made car. Brands such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW or Audi are examples of reliability and luxury. That’s why they are so expensive. But money does not always give the best security, as we shall see.

For decades, automotive brands have sought to innovate to differentiate themselves from the competition, while keeping in mind that what convinces customers the most is the reliability of a car. A car that doesn’t break down is the best selling sign you can have.

Unfortunately, no brand can be completely honest when it comes to how reliable their cars are. And then the OCU decided to intervene, always ready to resolve such pressing issues as the one that worries us today.

OCU

According to a survey conducted by OCU among 52,430 motorists in 5 European countries, users indicated the model of their car, the breakdowns they have had since purchase, and their degree of satisfaction with the car. And there one country stood out in the good, and the other in the bad.

As can be seen from the rankings, they Lexus, Subaru and Toyota are the three most trusted car brands in the world. All with reliability above 90 points out of 100.

This shows that Japanese cars are the best at what they do. The 4th and 6th places are also occupied by Japanese brands: Mitsubishi and Suzuki.

WHAT IS C-ROADS

As for the loser, you can say that the US is not doing very well. The least trusted brand in the world is Tesla, despite Elon Musk bragging about the brand all day long, followed by Alfa Romeo (Italian) and Land Rover (English). American Jeeps and Chevrolets are also very bad.

On the second reading, the Volkswagen group cars are largely reliable, with Seta, Skoda, Volkswagen or Audi in the brand ranking above 80 points out of 100.

What are the most reliable models? Let’s look at them by engine type:

  • Diesel: Volkswagen T-Roc (2017-) 1600 cc, the most reliable car in the review.
  • Petrol: Audi Q3 (2018-) 1500cc, Kia Rio (2017-) 1400cc and Hyundai i20 (2014-2020) 1000cc.
  • Gasoline hybrids: Lexus IS 2500cc (2013-), Toyota Corolla 2000cc (2018-) or Toyota RAV-4 2500cc (2013-2018).
  • Plug-in and electric hybrids: Kia Niro (2016-) 1600 Plug-in Hybrid and Mitsubishi Outlander (2013-) 2400 Plug-in Hybrid.
  • Gas: Dacia Duster (2017-) 1600g/gas and Skoda Octavia (2013-2020) 1500g/gas.

With all this data you have to choose your next car, you no longer have an excuse. And yes, in terms of reliable cars, nothing like the Japanese.
