This time Elon Musk teases YouTube and, more generally, Google. He does this with a meme on Twitter. The format is the classic “I sleep vs real sh*it“, but with Patrick Star of Spongebob taking the place of Shaq.

On the one hand, YouTube’s indifference to the epidemic of account fraud and theft from influencers and companies, on the other hand the platform’s obsessive focus on the so-called hate speech and, more generally, potentially offensive videos.

Several YouTubers have complained in the past about the platform’s new rules, which often demonetize certain content without warning just because it contains swear words or covers controversial topics. YouTube it also staged massive fraud for several weeks, perpetuated through the official Ripple CEO channel, which had been hacked. The incident was the subject of a sensitive legal dispute.

Elon Musk has been on his personal crusade against the big tech platforms for the past few months. He took it out on Netflix first, accused of being too awake (except to retrace his steps), then Twitter, which is trying to buy in on the pretense of putting free speech at the center of the social network’s value compass. The operation is currently being held hostage by a controversy over how many bots actually have a presence on Twitter.
