Uber has “hired” Serve Robotics robots in Los Angeles as couriers for the delivery of ready-made food. The experience turned out to be extremely successful, which allowed to expand the fleet of bots to 2000 pieces with the launch of contactless delivery of Uber Eats to several cities in North America at once.

Thus, according to the available data, now 200 restaurants have arrived in the pilot project for the first time, this was a very old order, already measured in tens of thousands. The experience gained will be scaled – the definition of a detection system in cities such as San Jose, Vancouver and Dallas. Robots are observed to detect a fourth level of autonomous driving when certain areas of human attention are not needed. Charge a regular battery to take the robot throughout the day.

The robot can move on paved roads at speeds up to 10 km/h, carrying loads weighing up to 23 kilograms in a special compartment. Only an employee of the company or a client who has received a delivery order can open it – for this he needs a mobile application. The developers report that the bots have used several promising new technologies to help them navigate city streets well.

Also, Serve Robotics bots will be able to achieve stability with their hands and machines and optimally cut. Mass use in the delivery service will begin in 2024.
