Meta wants you to be able to AirPlay your Quest from Apple devices

Meta is awaiting permission from Apple to make its Tasks compatible with AirPlay.

Meta wants iPhone users to stream content to Quests via AirPlay.

One of the most used functions by Apple users is AirPlay. The streaming benefits this feature across the company’s different devices are beyond the reach of many other companies. Apply this feature to your products Being in line with one of the benefits that makes the bitten apple company’s customers the happiest.

In addition to being adapted, this technology is also being tried to be imitated by other big brands. Samsung also has a very similar feature, and recently Amazon also announced Matter Casting. A new standard for content delivery currently limited to Echo Show devices.

Now it is Meta that wants to convince the foreign market. Implement AirPlay in task so users can stream content from their iPhone to the mixed reality device.

Meta’s Quest may be compatible with Apple’s AirPlay

According to the UploadVR site, Meta will ask Apple for permission to make the Quest an AirPlay receiver. This happened after a user on X (formerly Twitter) posted his displeasure at not being able to access downloads on some entertainment apps like Netflix or Prime Video.

In X’s post, the user said: “Why can’t we at least stream content from our iPhones to our Tasks? It would make the experience so much better.” This Internet user did not expect his post to receive a response from Mark Rabkin, Meta’s vice president of virtual reality. “I’d love to do this; we’re asking Apple for permission to make the Quest an AirPlay receiver…”, confirms that this could be a reality in the near future.

Maybe it’s just a matter of time before Meta completes the deal with Apple, but Joel Basson’s problem won’t be completely solved because Netflix does not allow streaming via AirPlay. That’s not so bad, because most entertainment apps are compatible with AirPlay, and who knows, maybe this will allow Netflix to join in later.

The Meta plan was successful, allowing Apple users to stream to Meta Quest from their iPhone or iPad. a way to attract a new market to this device and not allowing more customers to continue to access its rival Apple Vision Pro, especially considering that the cost may also persuade them. Will Apple allow this?
