Under the name Codeless Games, a group of fans has been working on a remake of the original Silent Hill from 1999, but made in the brand new Unreal Engine 5. every plane. It is not yet clear whether the game will be as scary as the original. No release date has yet been announced for the fan version.
The original Silent Hill was released by Konami in 1999 and is considered the legendary founding father of the horror game genre. The game made heavy use of atmospheric elements to create a sense of horror. But there was a technical reason for this; Many extreme dark environments and heavy fog were used to circumvent the hardware limitations of the original PlayStation. This meant that a scene did not need to be fully rendered.
The Silent Hill remake seems to take a slightly different approach. The fan-developed game looks much lighter than the original, but at some point a blizzard happens. This brings back memories of the original game.
Meanwhile, it’s not yet clear whether the fan-favored remake of Silent Hill will come to light, as publishers aren’t too keen on free use of intellectual property these days. For now, Konami hasn’t said anything about the restructuring.
