This summer my Instagram has been filled with posts related to Khalaraa clothing brand that is characterized by, among other things, fabrics with technology. These aren’t capes with built-in microphones in pure Inspector Gadget style, but clothes that fabric composition Every detail is taken care of to ensure specific effects such as quick drying, cool touch or even repelling pet hair. Intrigued, I bought two items of clothing from this brand to review.

What interested me first of all was cold touch. It’s summer here, that’s logical. But also something that would repel sweat as much as possible and dry quickly. Based on this, I chose cool-toned jeans and a tennis-style skirt with trousers underneath that combine two other characteristics: quick drying and against sweat

It should be noted that both Halara garments are comfortable and fit well. But that’s not what I was interested in trying. I wanted to see if their technical fabrics were truly different from those found in other brands. Here’s what I found out.

What are fabrics with technology?

Before reviewing Halara clothing, it is interesting to talk about fabric technology in general. Because it is not really about something electronic, but about the correct selection of very specific proportions of different fabrics. These are some of Ingredients which can be used.

Plain or technological polyester.

Polyester fibers retain virtually no water inside. This has a double effect. On the one hand, quick drying. And, on the other hand, cooling effect. The latter is because since the fabric is not wet, it does not stick to the skin, leaving more room for air flow. As for sweat, the advantage of polyester is that its fibers have moisture recovery rate very low, 0.4%As a result, sweat is not absorbed into the fabric and is quickly transported to the outside. Once there, it evaporates at a high rate. And since evaporation requires energy, it absorbs heat from the body, making it easier to cool down.

Now, all this can be taken to even greater extremes using modern fabrics. For example, there is a type of polyester called coolmax whose fibers have a much more efficient cross-section than typical round yarns. In this case, the yarn structure increases the number of spaces between the fibers while decreasing their size. Thus, capillary action is increased, allowing sweat to escape and evaporate more quickly.

Some nylon please

Nylon also has interesting properties. Its moisture recovery rate is slightly higher than that of polyester. If it were at the level of 0.4% here, then nylon would have it 10 times higher, 4%. This makes it less hydrophobic. It dries a little slower. But, on the contrary, it gives it excellent thermal conductivity. It all depends on what we want to prioritize in each piece of clothing. We’ll see this later on Halara’s clothing.

Elastane cannot be absent

As the name suggests, the main useful characteristic of elastane is its elasticity. However, it can also be part of technical fabrics for other reasons. And it also has a moisture recovery rate of just under 1%. It is widely used in sportswear, The special feature of Khalara is that it is so elastic that it fits the body very well; but it also dries quickly.

Khalara’s Cold Touch Pants

One of the things I have tried from Khalar is their cool jeans to the touch. They have a lot of styles. I tried the skinny denim ones, which are also breathable.

The composition of these trousers 48% cotton, 38% nylon and 17% elastane.. In this case, nylon is given priority over polyester, since the cold effect is achieved first and foremost, not by quick drying. In addition, elastane is added, which also guarantees this effect, because it is a good conductor of heat.

I must say that I can’t wear long jeans in the summer. I put it on to try it on on a very hot day and was delighted. Of course, it doesn’t work miracles. But it’s true that you feel it cooling effect. Sweat doesn’t collect on your legs like other jeans usually do. It even feels a little cold to the touch. Of course, it’s also breathable, so I can’t fault everything it promises.

What happened to Halara’s tennis skirt?

The Halara tennis skirt has pants underneath and a strap that adjusts to the leg for better support. Maybe that’s what makes it ideal clothing for some sportslike tennis, logically.

In his case, it consists of two tissues. The one that sticks to the body contains 85% polyester and 15% elastane.and the contrasting fabric consists of 77% nylon and 23% elastane.

It’s a good combination of breathable and quick-drying fabrics. In this case, drying requires more than a cool effect, so it has more polyester than nylon, especially close to the body. The site says they have capillarization system which helps prevent sweat buildup. It may be something similar to Coolmax, although this is not specified.

I haven’t tried this while exercising, but I have tried it in another environment where you sweat a lot: a festival. I wore shorts for 9 hoursapproximately. The first three hours were in bright sunshine, and the rest were at night, but with a lot of traffic and intense heat. A logical thing to do at a festival.

The first thing that caught my attention was that although I was sweating heavily and the T-shirt I was wearing on top was wet, there were no pants. My legs were sweating too, but my pants were dry. On the other hand, the part of my leg covered by my pants was sweating, but not as much as it would normally be if it were covered. It was sweating and drying in the rhythm of the exposed parts of my body. All this, logically, helped me feel fresher.

Therefore, in part against sweatI give it a huge “excellent” rating. Then I wanted to check how quickly it dries. To do this, I put the skirt-pants in a basin of water together with the shorts. 100% polyester.

Then, without wringing or spinning, I hung both clothes inside to dry. Especially in the bathroom, with the associated humidity. I wanted to see which one would dry first and at what speed.

Such wet clothes would probably take a whole day to dry indoors. In this case, both clothes were dry. about 10 hours. Let’s remember what was dripping from them. But the truth is that the pants are made of polyester it dried a little faster. In the case of Halara’s garment, it took a little longer, especially the outer part of the skirt. This makes sense, since other materials are used to help with cooling, it’s not just about fast drying with minimal moisture recovery.

Pink trousers are made of 100% polyester.

So, although it does not dry as quickly as promised in extreme conditions, its fabric composition is generally very suitable. In addition, it should be said that after drying 100% polyester pants in the same way it was crumpledand Halara’s skirt is ready to be stored in the closet. That’s another plus for those of us who hate ironing.

In short, Halara technology clothing is not magical, but it does care about the composition of its fabrics to ensure maximum comfort, and that is something that cannot be denied. I would use them again.
