found the deepest wreck in the world in the waters ofPacific from the Philippines, lying at an incredible depth of 6,958 meters. It would be the remains ship warship, the USS Samuel B Roberts, better known as Sammy B.

The USS Samuel B Roberts was an approximately 93-meter escort fighter in the service of the United States Navy during World War II. According to the reconstructions in October 1944 at the end of a naval battle between the US and the Imperial fleets of Japan in the Gulf of Leyte, left without weapons and outnumbered, it would have sacrificed itself to save the other ships, as it was overwhelmed used to be. and sank to the bottom of the sea, with about ninety sailors of the crew (otherwise one hundred and thirty managed to escape instead). According to the Americans, this episode would mark a very important event for the pride of the Navy.

The retrieval operation was coordinated by explorer Victor Vescovo and sonar specialist Jeremie Morizet at the head of the EYOS Expeditions team. The two used underwater vehicles and ships equipped with sonar beams. It would have taken six dives to identify the broken in two wreck that lies on the seabed at an unprecedented depth.

It was an extraordinary honor to locate this incredibly famous ship and thereby have the opportunity to tell its story of heroism and duty to those who may not be aware of the ship and the sacrifice of its crew. I am always amazed at the extraordinary courage of those who fought against truly overwhelming odds and won in this battle.
