Disappearing messages is an interesting WhatsApp feature that allows us to play with privacy by allowing us to choose the default duration for many of our conversations.
Until now, in WhatsApp and privacy settings, we have the option choose message durationsome temporary messages for which we can choose a time period from 24 hours to 90 days, something that is disabled by default and many people overlook.
However, in the variant currently available in stable, we are told that this configuration “it won’t affect our existing conversations”, only in the new individual chats, something that we will be able to customize a lot more in the future thanks to the latest beta update of the app.
And that’s what beta version 2.22.16.8 WhatsApp for Android includes a new option within this default duration where we can choose to apply the message timer to multiple conversations at the same time. This is without a doubt a way to save us time, given the large number of existing conversations we have.
This way we can fit some of the existing chats we already have with a predetermined duration for new messages so there is no need to go to each one and set it up.
Please note that this function is in beta for Android testersand it will presumably be available in a stable version in the coming months, so we’ll have to wait.
