Russia can limit the export of gold by individuals. This proposal was made by the Federal Customs Service, the specific parameters of the restrictions were not specified there. Business Russia previously proposed setting a limit similar to that on foreign currency exports: $10,000 or its equivalent.
The Federal Customs Service has put forward a proposal to introduce a limit on the export of gold from Russia by individuals. This was announced by Deputy Finance Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Moiseev, Interfax reports.
The official did not mention the specific parameters of the proposed limit on gold exports. Moiseev described the damage that Russia suffers from the illegal trade in this precious metal as colossal.
Previously, Delovaya Rossiya proposed that the limit be the same as in foreign currency: 10,000 dollars or its equivalent in another currency. The abolition of VAT on the purchase of gold bars made them an alternative to currency, so Russians buy bars and resell them abroad in exchange for foreign currency, according to Business Russia, leading to the creation of a tool for money laundering.
