A suggestive event was the move of a hundred from lions asians in India. From the forest of Gir, in the Indian state of Gujarat, they then reached the west coast of the country. For scholars, it is an unusual phenomenon: its significance lies in the fact that their habitat is “shrinking”.

Asiatic lions have a hard time getting used to the characteristics of coastal areas, but they do so because they have no other options. The Gir Forest was home to 400 lions by 2020, while 275 would inhabit the rest of the state. Of the latter, 104 have moved to the Gujarat coast because of their natural habitat now “overcrowded”.

Each lion normally needs a territory of about 100 square kilometers, and this area also includes three to four lionesses living with their cubs. When the cub matures, it takes control of the territory from the old lion or leaves it to look for a new one.

The lions are arriving ribs follow the river Heran, so by now many people living by the sea are used to meeting them. Uday Shah, a resident of the area, says:

First, when we first saw them we were scared, but now they don’t bother us anymore

also others citizens the locals learn live together calm and respectful with Asiatic lions. So far, no lion has attacked a human.

When we meet the lions, we stop and make room for them, or we change the way without disturbing them. Previously we had to deal with herds of wild boars and bulls, which would have damaged all our crops. Now this problem is almost solved.
